Regarding interior design trends for 2020, being up to date, is something we value when we want to decorate some space at this time of year. We don’t want to be out of what we currently see in our favourite and reference stores, but we like to anticipate what the trends will be, somehow trying to extend the longevity of our current choices!
My goal with this post is to make life easier for those who don’t have the time (or patience!) to research for interior design trends for 2020. I will tell you about the top 3 decorating trends for the coming year, with inspiring images that will help you in the decision moment at the stores.
If in recent years we have witnessed the prevalence of minimalism in interior design, by 2020 we will be surprised by creative, bold and fun interiors. Major 2019 design fairs anticipate vibrant color spaces, enriched with unlikely mixtures of patterns, materials and shapes, complemented by striking design pieces.
There will be no shortage of walls decorated with paintings or any other creative decorations – always accompanied by the others!
Patterns are, for me, the easiest way to adorn environments with personality. However, it is not that difficult to fall into exaggeration. Bringing together similar patterns in different sizes usually works!
Velvet will continue to reign in 2020, and is an easy way to add opulence, for example, to a living room.
Unusually designed accessories can be equally bright stars in environments of this style. From an eye-catching lamp to a truly unique decorative candle such as this Lisbon Window, they can help enhance a maximalist space!
I think no one has doubts that the environment around us seriously affects our well-being. I am sure that if two similar mattresses were placed in distinctively decorated hotel rooms, the customer would like the mattress of his or her favourite room.
I also believe that most people feel good about contact with nature. There are studies that prove that environments with nature elements transmit serenity and well-being.
The truth is that the “Natural” continues trend in 2020! Materials like wood and stone are a great way to transport us to the outside world. The prevalence of Scandinavian design has kept wood very close to almost all of us. I appreciate it! I love the warmth that wood gives us, balancing, for example, the white spaces.
Another decoration trend of 2020 is the division of environments with natural materials.
The interior gardens, vertical or hanging, can not miss the decoration, as they offer spaces of relaxation and tranquillity.
The wallpaper evokes nature, and will show up with striking motifs.
Curves, smooth contours and wavy lines replace the straight lines we have been used to for years. I don’t know what you feel, but to me, the rounded furniture, is more inviting. Even a mirror, if it is round, becomes nicer! Does anyone share these feelings?
But it doesn’t have to be all round. Combining straight lines with curved lines works! This year’s Milan Design Week showed that!
Some interior design experts argue that using curved lines, in modern architecture houses, softens elegant lines. As you might imagine, I’m not an expert, but I have to agree with that!
Curved tables and sofas, are some bets of many brands for decoration of 2020.
I venture to say that curves are here to stay! What about you?
